The Best Brushes Ever

I am soooo sorry for my long absence, but I've been going through one of the worst episodes of 'artist's block' that I've ever had. Lately, I've felt no inspiration or motivation to do much painting, so I'm going to show you some of my favorite watercolor brushes.

I used to buy all of my brushes from a local art store with a limited selection and never thought much about the quality. The brushes I had ranged from full taklon to a mix of synthetic and goat hair bristles. Some of them were decent brushes, but I was never satisfied with how dull the brush points always were. I had to resort to using smaller and smaller brushes which is a pain, because they can only hold a small amount of liquid. And then I found them; Series 7 Winsor & Newton brushes. I absolutely love these brushes! They're made of fine quality sable, and are capable of holding a large amount of liquid while still keeping a razor sharp point. They are super flexible and bounce right back into shape after each stroke.

Sable brushes are a little different from synthetic in the way they hold and distribute the liquid, and it can take some getting used to. They are pricey, but if you are serious about art, I'd say they're a good investment. I mean, logistically, if you use lousy brushes, how great is your art gonna be? Rocket science right?
